More WHIC Funding Available for Technology Grants to Help Doctors and Hospitals Deliver Better Care
(June 2008) Grants of up to $20,000 each will be awarded to physician clinics and hospitals in Washington state to support greater use of electronic medical record systems. Generally, grants will be awarded to smaller physician practices and hospitals throughout the state and other parts of the Pacific Northwest. Health Information Technology Funding Awards Announced: $1 Million to be Distributed in 2007 (October 2007) Another $1 million in grants has been awarded by the Washington Health Information Collaborative, a public-private partnership promoting greater use of health information technology by medical clinics and hospitals. WHIC awards to health care providers now total of $2.2M since 2005 to use in acquiring, implementing and expanding health information technology to improve health care efficiency and effectiveness. In 2007, funding for the awards was provided by two $500,000 contributions from First Choice Health and the Washington State Health Care Authority.
