Implementing Your Health Information System Preparing to Select A Health Information System

2008 Health Information Technology Grants Drawing from a pool of $1,000,000 for 2008, WHIC has awarded grants up to $20,000 each to medical groups, clinics and hospitals for the acquisition, implementation and expansion of health information technology to improve patient care. This year's grant recipients were announced October 7, 2008. First Choice Health, the Washington State Health Care Authority, Qualis Health and the Puget Sound Health Alliance once more joined forces to offer financial incentives and consulting support to eligible applicants who are adopting and expanding health information technology (IT) in their practices.
Funding is intended to reduce costs associated with health IT adoption for primary care and speciality practices, plus critical access hospitals. Funding will be disbursed in awards of up to $20,000. Qualis Health offers technical assistance and advice to the grantees, related to:
The grant funding comes from First Choice Health and the Washington State Health Care Authority. Other WHIC partners are Qualis Health and the Puget Sound Health Alliance, which provide inkind services. We encourage other organizations to help fund the awards and support WHIC. More about WHIC.
